Democrat State Rep Is Paid Lobbyist In At Least 2 Other States
Michigan Democrat State Representative Rebekah Warren of Ann Arbor is a paid lobbyist for the National Popular Vote in Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Warren co-sponsored a National Popular Vote bill during the 2017-18 legislative session as a state senator in Michigan and recently penned an op-ed in the Lansing State Journal advocating for the issue.
According to the Detroit News, “A Michigan House lawmaker has quietly been hired by a national interest group and filed a lobbying disclosure outside of the state, a situation that ethics experts said is extremely unusual and raises questions about her priorities.”
“Warren is listed as the “authorized representative” who filed the lobbying disclosure on behalf of the National Popular Vote group in the state in August.”
MIRS News also reported that “Warren is the owner of Adaptive Strategics, a company she created in 2017. In North Carolina, she’s a registered lobbyist for the National Popular Vote (NPV). In Pennsylvania, she said the laws don’t require her to register, but she did file a statement as the lead agent for NPV.”
Earlier this year, Warren was sentenced to one year of probation on a misdemeanor operating while intoxicated charge Wednesday in Oakland County.
