Michigan Rising Action Calls For Full Investigation Into Previous Elections Overseen By Clerk Charged With Altering Ballots
Today, Michigan Rising Action officially called for a complete audit of every election overseen by Southfield City Clerk Sherikia Hawkins throughout her career as an elections official.
“The charges against Ms. Hawkins are extremely troubling and must be fully investigated. The integrity of our elections is essential to the protection of our constitutional rights and individual liberty,” said Tori Sachs, executive director of Michigan Rising Action. “We are calling for a full audit of every election that Ms. Hawkins oversaw in her capacity as an elections official,” she continued.
National Review reported that Hawkins has overseen a total of 16 elections in Oakland County, MI and began working in government in 2010 as deputy city clerk for the city of Pontiac.
The office of Democratic Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel told the Daily Caller that they don’t believe Hawkins’ alleged actions altered the outcome of any elections in the state. “The Secretary of State indicated that the actions of Southfield City Clerk Sherikia Hawkins did not alter the outcome of the election,” Nessel’s office said.
However, Nessel’s office did not say if previous elections oversaw by Hawkins had been or will be audited or investigated.
