This morning, the Wall Street Journal highlighted recent polls finding that the far-left socialist policy of Medicare for All is being met with extreme skepticism in Michigan. One poll released last week by the Kaiser Family Foundation and Cook Political Report found that nearly two-thirds of swing voters surveyed in Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin rated a Medicare for All plan that would eliminate private insurance as a “bad idea.”

That polling may explain why first-term Rep. Haley Stevens is now backing away from her full-throated support for eliminating employer sponsored health insurance during her 2018 campaign:

2018: Stevens: “Medicare For All. NOW.”

2017: Stevens Said “Of Course” She Would Co-Sponsor HR 676, A Medicare-For-All Bill

Yet at town halls this summer in Michigan, Stevens told constituents that she is “not a believer in the big and abrupt changes.”

Apparently her support for this policy is now only revealed behind closed doors:

Michigan For Single Payer: “Haley Stevens Has Said In Private That She
Supports A [Medicare For All] Bill But Has Not Done So Publicly.”

“Haley Stevens has said in private that she supports a bill but has not done so publicly. Dan Kildee says he’s for the concept but has not committed to the bill. Elissa Slotkin is not on board.”

“Michigan is the battle-ground to stop far-left socialist policies like Medicare-for-all supported by Rep. Haley Stevens,” said Tori Sachs, executive director of Michigan Rising Action. “Rep. Stevens may be trying to hide her support for Medicare-for-all which will eliminate private and employer-sponsored health insurance and replace it with government-mandated socialist care – but we will make sure people know Stevens wholeheartedly supports this socialist policy.”
