State Rep. Laurie Pohutsky Campaigns in Full Support of Medicare for All’s Job-Killing Plan

Medicare for All doesn’t just eliminate employer health coverage, it also will lead to the loss of two million health care jobs across the country – job losses that we can’t afford here in Michigan.

February 28, 2020

The state representative from Livonia, Laurie Pohutsky, is scheduled to lead a canvassing effort for Elizabeth Warren, whom Pohutsky endorsed last year, in Southfield on Saturday, Feb. 29.

Warren is well known for her support of Medicare for All, a socialist health care policy that would eliminate all employer-provided health coverage – and replace it with a single-payer system which leads to increased wait times, rationing, and the elimination of two million health care jobs.

Pohutsky has fully embraced a single-payer system, saying in a Facebook video that she is “happy to stand with Michigan for single-payer” – an advocacy organization solely focused on implementing the socialist-style single-payer plan. Pohutsky has further called for a state-funded Medicare-for-all system that would shift the cost of nearly 5 million employer-sponsored health plans from private employers to the state taxpayers in Michigan.

Laurie Pohutsky’s support of the job-killing and employer-sponsored eliminating socialist Medicare for All policy is concerning for those who like their health insurance and seeing their doctor when they need it, not months later. Medicare for All doesn’t just eliminate employer health coverage, it also will lead to the loss of two million health care jobs across the country – job losses that we can’t afford here in Michigan. – Tori Sachs, executive director of Michigan Rising Action.

  • The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget examined whether middle-class taxes would have to go up to pay for Medicare for All. The bottom line: taxes on middle-class families would have to go up to pay for Medicare for All.
  • By eliminating private health insurance, Medicare for All will result in two million job losses by people working in the healthcare sector — a fact that Elizabeth Warren is keenly aware of being a reality.
  • Expert says Medicare for All pushes health care rationing to keep costs low.
  • Business Insider: “Those on the progressive left like Sens. Sanders and Elizabeth Warren envision a government-run insurance system where Americans would get coverage including dental, vision, and long-term care, and private insurers are eliminated or sidelined.”
