Gov. Whitmer: “Politics Is Everything Right Now”
Michigan Rising Action has released a new online video titled Whitmer’s Politics, which highlights Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s focus on politics during the coronavirus pandemic fallout in Michigan.
Gov. Whitmer has had over 40 national interview appearances over the past few weeks, fueling the observation from Politico that Whitmer is juggling governing and a “big job tryout” for “the possibility of her becoming Biden’s VP pick.”
It’s clear that Gov. Whitmer thinks politics is everything right now, saying so herself during a recent interview in her bid to become Biden’s running mate. Whitmer’s politicking comes at the expense of finding solutions for the growing health and economic problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic. After the Wall Street Journal Editorial Board called Whitmer’s executive orders “the most excessive decrees” in the county, Michigan is now experiencing depression level unemployment with at least 24% of the labor force unemployed, a number that’s expected to rise in the coming weeks.
While Michiganders stay home under Whitmer’s order, many are finding that the state’s unemployment insurance system is not working properly leaving at least 180,000 people still waiting to be approved to receive payments.
