Democrat Lawmaker Critical of Gov. Whitmer’s Nursing Home Executive Order
Democrat state representative Leslie Love voiced criticism of Michigan’s nursing home policy that “has been putting long-term care patients recovering from the virus in the same facilities with patients who don’t have the virus.”
WXYZ previously reported that a “Sterling Heights senior care center saw a spike in COVID-19 cases among residents after accepting two dozen positive patients recently discharged from area hospitals.”
At yesterday’s press conference, Governor Whitmer was asked about changing the policy as New York Governor Cuomo has after coming under fire for similar outbreaks at nursing homes in his state. Whitmer dodged answering on policy improvements as did Michigan’s Chief Medical Executive, Dr. Khaldun.

A Michigan Senate Oversight Committee hearing is scheduled for tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. to discuss the impacts of Whitmer’s nursing home executive order.
