More Contradictions from Gov. Whitmer’s Admin on Troubled Contact Tracing Initiative

Michigan’s contact tracing initiative has been controversial to say the least after Gov. Whitmer canceled the initial no-bid contract that went to Democrat campaign vendors.

During Governor Whitmer’s press conference today, the state’s Chief Medical Executive Dr. Joneigh Khaldun said the state would have 500 contact tracing volunteers by the end of the week.

That statement contradicts a press release the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services sent on May 9 that read: “More than 3,500 volunteers have completed contact tracing training.” The 3,500 volunteer stat was reported weeks ago by Michigan RadioBridge Michigan, and the Detroit Free Press, among others. This contradiction from Whitmer’s administration begs the question as to what happened to the initial 3,500 volunteers.

Michigan’s contact tracing initiative has been controversial to say the least after Gov. Whitmer canceled the initial no-bid contract that went to Democrat campaign vendors. Emails recently obtained recently by Bridge Michigan show “Whitmer’s office gave the “green light” for a COVID-19 contact tracing “arrangement” she denied knowledge of and canceled amid outcry over a contractor with Democratic ties.”
