The Detroit News reports that two progressive groups – the Justice Democrats and the Sunrise Movement – are advocating for Joe Biden to appoint Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib to his cabinet.
“The group has started a petition listing Tlaib as their top pick to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development under Biden.”
The report comes just days after Tlaib retweeted a “solidarity slogan commonly understood as a war cry to destroy the state of Israel and replace it with Palestine.”
Tlaib later removed her retweet but has not issued an apology or explanation. Support of the same message previously resulted in Marc Lamont Hill being fired from CNN.
According to reports from Townhall, “Tlaib also came under fire last week after she questioned reports that Joe Biden would likely nominate Tony Blinken, who is Jewish, for secretary of state.”
Congresswoman Tlaib should apologize for her latest anti-semitic tweet calling for the eradication of Israel. Her hateful, inflammatory rhetoric has no place in our public discourse – especially coming from an elected official like herself. – Tori Sachs, executive director of Michigan Rising Action.
