Attorney General Nessel Admits Ignorance Of Michigan Law

After serving two years as Michigan’s Attorney General, Dana Nessel seems more concerned with mean tweeting than learning and enforcing Michigan’s laws.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel admitted her ignorance of a Michigan law that makes forfeiture of a crooked public employee’s pension mandatory, or at least easier to take away if they are convicted of a crime.

WXYZ reported “Guilty of bribery and extortion, ex-public employees still collect public pensions.”

“In 2017, a law was passed that attempted to make forfeiture of a crooked public employee’s pension mandatory, or at least easier to pursue. But a 7 Action News investigation reveals it has seldom been used, and Michigan’s Attorney General was not even familiar with it.”

During the interview Nessel stated, “Until you brought this to my attention, it wasn’t something that I had thought of. And that’s on me as an elected official. I should be familiar with the law, I should know it inside and out.”

Watch:

Nessel has been Michigan’s Attorney General for over two years and while she clearly lacks an understanding of our laws, she does spend a lot of time trolling on Twitter. In one instance, Nessel expressed regret over not “totally liquidating” her retirement fund to invest in a sex doll manufacturing company.

More recently, Nessel posted that her office was looking for a press secretary who gets along with “media types except Nolan Finley,” a reference to the conservative editorial page editor of The Detroit News.
