Lansing, Mich., July 6, 2021 – As many vulnerable Democrats seek to distance themselves from the far-left wing of their party, Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin (D-Holly) has taken a different approach, saying that she is open to supporting an expensive and radical spending package. Axios reports:
“Reps. Elissa Slotkin (Mich.-8) and Matt Cartwright (Pa.-8) emerged as the most open to passing a reconciliation bill.
‘Just show me what we’re talking about and show me how it’ll help my district,’ Slotkin told Axios. ‘I think I’ve got some peers who are like, ‘Heck no. I’m not doing a reconciliation package.’ I’m not there.’”
Slotkin’s openness to the reconciliation package is out of touch in a district she won on narrow margins in both of her elections and that both Clinton and Biden lost in 16’ and 20’, respectively.
“Congresswoman Slotkin’s openness to this radical reconciliation plan fits her track record of playing the moderate on TV, but supporting the far-left’s agenda in Congress,” said Eric Ventimiglia, executive director for Michigan Rising Action. Ventimiglia continued, “This reconciliation bill is nothing more than another expensive liberal wish list, and the voters of Slotkins district should be disturbed by her decision to support such an out of touch and extremist agenda.”
