Benson Backtracks on Her Failed Policies, Blames Everyone Else

Lansing, Mich., July 7, 2021 – In a press conference this morning, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson continued to applaud legislation that she and her administration opposed.

This is Benson’s latest attempt to rewrite history after she previously attempted to gaslight the people of Michigan late last week over the same issue. Benson has faced a reckoning over her failed policies for months now, testifying in May in front of the Michigan House Oversight Committee over the skyrocketing wait times at the SOS, where she falsely claimed the SOS needed more funding to expand available SOS appointments.

“Jocelyn Benson’s appointment-only policy and reduced hours are the primary cause of the current crisis at SOS branches, and her attempt to live in an alternate reality in which this isn’t the case is truly mind-boggling,” said Eric Ventimiglia, executive director for Michigan Rising Action. Ventimiglia continued, “Benson’s decision to applaud legislation that rebukes her own failed policies exemplifies how out of touch she has become.”
