ICYMI: Stevens and Nessel Ditch Their Masks at Large Indoor Gathering, Students Forced to Mask Up to Begin School Year
Lansing, Mich., September 8, 2021 – Last weekend Congresswoman Haley Stevens got married in a maskless ceremony performed by Attorney General Dana Nessel. The ensuing reception was held in a crowded, mask-free gathering at an indoor venue. Michigan is considered to be an area of substantial or high transmission, making the event an open violation of MDHHS and CDC guidelines.
With no masks in sight, it is hard to tell whether the Attorney General and Congresswoman are oblivious to the guidelines, or if they are simply choosing to ignore them. Most Michigan students will not be afforded the luxury of taking a day off from the guidelines, including those in Rep. Stevens’ own district. Breitbart reports:
“Stevens represents portions of Oakland and Wayne Counties, both of which have gone further than the state and imposed mask mandates for all K–12 school employees and students.”
As yet another example of the “Rules for thee, Not for Me” era of the Democratic party comes to light, the timing of this latest hypocrisy is particularly bad. Only days after this photo was taken, countless Michigan students were forced to mask-up as they headed back to school.
“Leadership by example is a principle completely lost in today’s Democratic party,” said Eric Ventimiglia, Executive Director for Michigan Rising Action. Ventimiglia continued, “Rep. Stevens’ decision to ditch the mask on her wedding is not the problem. What angers Michigan parents is that they see their elected leaders galavanting across the state and country without a mask yet their children are forced to wear one in school.”
