Lansing, Mich., October 1, 2021 – Gretchen Whitmer’s interim selection for the state’s new chief medical examiner, Natasha Bagdasarian, holds extremist beliefs which include a bounty system for maskless residents and a complete disregard for the Constitution. The Detroit News reported that Bagdasarian “liked” a series of alarming tweets that gives Michigan residents a glimpse into the personal views of Whitmer’s top COVID-19 advisor.
It is simply unacceptable that the Governor appointed someone with draconian ideologies, such as putting bounties on the heads of Michigan residents as the state’s top doctor. An MDHHS spokesperson claims Bagdasarian liked the tweet on accident, but even if that weak excuse were genuine, it does not account for several other tweets she liked. Bagdasarian liked other tweets that belittle religious freedoms, call for mandatory vaccines for teachers, and the institution of a nationwide mask mandate.
Families across Michigan, who were already concerned about the impact the state’s draconian restrictions are having on their families and the Michigan economy, now have the added burden of a chief medical examiner who threatens the Constitution and wellbeing of Michiganders. Bagdasarian now has the platform to push for policies based upon her fringe beliefs- a frightening proposition.
“Gov. Whitmer’s decisions and hiring choices continue to threaten the individual liberties of Michiganders,” said Eric Ventimiglia, Executive Director for Michigan Rising Action. Ventimiglia continued, “It is a complete dereliction of duty to hire such a radical medical officer without doing a simple vetting of her social media. At this point, it seems as if every one of Whitmer’s bureaucrats is a failure, has a rogue agenda, or both.”
