Whitmer Voices Support for Vaccine Mandate, Joins Biden in Howell
Lansing, Mich., October 5, 2021 – In an interview with FOX 17 last night, Whitmer made it clear that Michigan would enforce Biden’s vaccine mandates. Further cementing their solidarity, Gretchen Whitmer joined Joe Biden today during his visit to the Operating Engineers training center in Howell today. Biden’s visit comes amid several crises facing his presidency, ranging from the wasteful $3.5 trillion tax-and-spend package and wide-ranging vaccine mandates attacking the individual liberties of Americans. During the interview, Whitmer stated:
“We’re still waiting for the Department of Labor on the federal level to promulgate the rules, and then we will have to do the same at the state level, but we’re waiting on the feds because that’s who made the rule change. We get to see how it’s going to be applied and then we’ve got to work with all of our stakeholders here in Michigan to make sure that it’s very clear so people can get into compliance,”
Amid plummeting approval ratings, Whitmer had shifted to a more subtle strategy while still supporting burdensome government mandates. Whitmer has pressured local governments to mandate masking in schools and seems to be content allowing Biden and the federal government to take the lead on pushing for mandatory vaccination. In recent weeks, Whitmer’s actions have been more open about supporting vaccine mandates, including her interview and the appointment of a Chief Medical Examiner that supports Biden’s policy.
“Whitmer and Biden have the flawed belief that the government should be making personal healthcare decisions for the residents of Michigan,” said Eric Ventimiglia, Executive Director for Michigan Rising Action. Ventimiglia continued, “Since the very beginning of this pandemic, Gretchen Whitmer has attacked the individual liberties of Michiganders. Whether it is her unilateral lockdowns or now the prospect of a vaccine mandate, the Governor has repeatedly trampled on the rights of hardworking families in our state.”
