Rashida Tlaib Only Wears a Mask for Political Theater

Lansing, Mich., October 6, 2021 – It is abundantly clear that Rashida Tlaib is not concerned with wearing a mask in public. At an event yesterday, Tlaib can be heard admitting to a supporter that the only reason she is wearing a mask is that she was being taped, not because she thought it was necessary.

This revelation is not the first time Tlaib has been caught downplaying the importance of wearing a mask. In August, several videos and pictures were taken of Tlaib dancing and partying with guests at a crowded wedding, none of which were wearing a mask. The hypocrisy is infuriating for the thousands of constituents Tlaib has pushed mask-wearing upon over the past 19 months.

“Rep. Tlaib’s official stance on mask-wearing is ‘rules for thee, not for me’,” said Eric Ventimiglia, Executive Director for Michigan Rising Action. Ventimiglia continued, “At this point, Tlaib wearing a mask to an event is nothing more than political pandering. She does not think that it makes a difference.”
