Elissa Slotkin Lies to Her Constituents, Votes to Approve Build Back Better to Appease Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi
Lansing, Mich., November 19, 2021 – In a shocking reversal, Rep. Elissa Slotkin has voted to approve Joe Biden’s wasteful Build Back Better (BBB) plan. When describing what the liberal wishlist would have to look like for her to vote yes, Slotkin stated in a press release:
“…it should be transformative for Michigan, to include change on childcare and lowering prescription drug costs, and it should be targeted, meaning it needs to be paid for, and not on the backs of the middle class.”
Despite promises that she would not vote for the nearly $2T package if middle-class families were going to have to pay for it, Slotkin voted in support of the passage. The bill faced bipartisan opposition, and the report completed by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) revealed that the cost to taxpayers could be as high as $367B. Slotkin had access to this report before voting yes on the reckless tax-and-spend plan.
“Elissa Slotkin has repeatedly lied to her constituents regarding her unconditional support of this wasteful plan,” said Eric Ventimiglia, Executive Director for Michigan Rising Action. Ventimiglia continued, “By voting yes, knowing it would raise taxes on middle-class families, Elissa Slotkin chose her party over the people she represents.”
