Say the Quiet Part Loud: Superintendent of Michigan’s Largest School District Confirms CRT is Embedded in Curriculum

December 3, 2021

Last month, the Superintendent of Detroit Public Schools revealed that students in Michigan’s largest school district were learning from a curriculum “deeply using” Critical Race Theory. Vitti told attendees and the board that their best route to stopping legislation that would ban teaching “implicit race or gender stereotyping” in K-12 schools would be a veto from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. WATCH:

As Vitti and the board remained focused on embedding CRT into schools and Lansing politics, Vitti had a glaring omission from his speech: parents were mentioned zero times. As the leaders of Detroit schools confirm the presence of CRT in their curriculum, it reveals Michigan Democrats are either clueless as to what is going on in our schools or are lying for political cover. In a statement from her office hours obtained by Breitbart, Democrat State Rep. Laurie Pohutsky stated:

“In Michigan, State Rep. Laurie Pohutsky (D-Livonia), who represents an area in Metro Detroit, said last week in a livestream on social media about H.B. 5097, ‘I want to be very, very clear. CRT is not taught in any of our K–12 schools.’”

Whether Michigan Democrats are unaware of CRT’s presence in curriculum or trying to mislead parents, it shows how little they regard parental involvement in their students’ educational issues in general.

“Michigan Democrats know that an overwhelming majority of Michigan parents do not want Critical Race Theory taught in our schools,” said Eric Ventimiglia, Executive Director for Michigan Rising Action. Ventimiglia continued, “This type of doublespeak is what parents have come to expect from Liberal legislators and school administrators across the state. They’re fed up.”
