Elissa Slotkin’s Policies are Unpopular In New 7th Congressional District
Lansing, Mich., January 5, 2021 – Despite her efforts to build a reputation as a political centrist, Elissa Slotkin’s voting record and stance on critical issues liken her to some of the most extreme liberals in Congress. In 2021, Slotkin voted with progressive “Squad” member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez 92 percent of the time, and a key member of her staff sits on the board of a diversity group that supports Critical Race Theory. Last November, Slotkin misled her constituents and rubber-stamped Joe Biden’s reckless BBB plan that may cost taxpayers up to $367 billion even after stating she would not vote for a bill that financially burdened middle-class families. Slotkin’s allegiance to Biden threatens her political future in the newly drawn 7th Congressional District. The Washington Examiner reports:
“In the new 7th Congressional District, late November polling by the GOP firm Cygnal found Biden’s approval at an abysmal 40%, with 56% disapproving of the job he is doing as president. In the same survey, Republicans led the generic ballot, gauging which party voters would prefer reign in Congress, by a whopping 10 percentage points, 51% to 41%. That could spell trouble for second-term Rep. Elissa Slotkin in 2022.”
Joe Biden’s domestic agenda is not popular in the new 7th Congressional District Slotkin wishes to represent moving forward. It appears that if Slotkin continues supporting unpopular policies such as BBB, she will have a difficult time selling her policies to her new constituents.
“It is disingenuous for Elissa Slotkin to try and distance herself from Joe Biden as she continues to support his far-left policy agenda,” said Eric Ventimiglia, Executive Director for Michigan Rising Action. Ventimiglia continued, “This new polling shows just how unpopular Joe Biden and the Democrat-led Congress is with the people of mid-Michigan.”
