The Tragic Hypocrisy of Gretchen Whitmer’s COVID Restrictions

Lansing, Mich., January 28, 2022 – From marching at crowded anti-police rallies to the infamous Florida trip, Gretchen Whitmer has demonstrated an open disregard for her unilateral COVID restrictions. Michiganders did not have the luxury of violating such rules, including the Governor’s destructive nursing home policies. Whitmer’s decisions not only cost people their lives but also robbed loved ones of the opportunity to be with their family members in their final moments. WATCH:

For Michiganders, especially those who lost loved ones in nursing homes, the hypocrisy of Gretchen Whitmer’s indifference to the guidelines that eliminated the fundamental right of saying goodbye to a loved one is infuriating. As families grapple with how their loved ones passed, they are taking note of the Governor’s glaring hypocrisy.

“Part of the tragedy of this pandemic was the inability for loved ones to say goodbye due to Gretchen Whitmer’s orders,” said Eric Ventimiglia, Executive Director for Michigan Rising Action. Ventimiglia continued, “Whitmer’s policies not only cost people their lives, she mandated that they died alone.”
