ICYMI: As Gas Hits the $4 Mark, Whitmer and Nessel Continue Pressing for Line 5 Closure, Increased Energy Costs
Lansing, Mich., March 7, 2022 – As Michiganders grapple with the highest per gallon gas costs in fourteen years, Gretchen Whitmer and Dana Nessel are continuing their tone-deaf attempt to shutdown Line 5. Should Whitmer and Benson get their way, Michiganders could expect an additional, significant spike in gas prices. The Detroit News reports:
“Michigan families and businesses would spend a total of $1.8 billion to $2.2 billion a year more on gasoline and diesel should Line 5 be shut down, according to a study by the Consumers Energy Alliance.”
Simple tasks like driving to work or dropping kids off at school are becoming massive expenses for hardworking Michigan families. Rather than providing our state with a tax cut, Whitmer and Nessel seem content with “ridin with Biden” and driving energy and gas prices up for Michiganders.
“Gretchen Whitmer and Dana Nessel are more interested in serving big environmental groups than the people of Michigan,” said Eric Ventimiglia, Executive Director for Michigan Rising Action. Ventimiglia continued, “Energy costs are skyrocketing for Michiganders, and our leaders should be championing solutions to address that issue, not exacerbate it.”
