Lansing, Mich., March 10, 2022 – Hardworking Michiganders feel the stress of skyrocketing inflation and gas prices averaging well over $4 per gallon. With new CPI data showing inflation up roughly 7.9 percent and the price of goods hitting a forty-year high, more than half of Michigan families struggle to make ends meet. MLive reports:
“Michiganders are feeling this pinch with more than half saying they are struggling to pay monthly bills, according to a survey from the U.S. Census Bureau. The February data, analyzed by QuoteWizard, shows 51% of Michigan respondents have difficulty paying for their food, rent, mortgage, car payments or student loan bills.”
As Michiganders struggle under financial pressures, Gretchen Whitmer has offered little more than political rhetoric and prioritized issues that would only make matters worse, including:
“Michiganders aren’t buying a word of what Gas-hike Gretchen is saying,” said Eric Ventimiglia, Executive Director for Michigan Rising Action. Ventimiglia continued, “Whitmer’s combined actions and inaction is hurting Michigan families amid record inflation and gas prices. If the Governor gets her way and shuts down Line 5, Michiganders will have to spend their $400 refund checks on new bikes.”
