Lansing, Mich., May 25, 2022 – A new EPIC-MRA poll shows that 93% of Michigan voters have a negative view of Michigan’s crumbling roads. Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who pledged to “fix the damn roads” in her 2018 campaign, has failed to fulfill that promise, and was given a 52% negative job approval rating in the same poll.

As Michiganders feel the direct impact of rising prices, they also bear the costs of Michigan’s poor road conditions. As a result of Michigan’s roads, the average Michigan household pays an average of $4,845 per year in costs related to poor road conditions.

“In spite of the daily press releases from Gretchen Whitmer, the people who drive on Michigan’s roads know they stink.” said Eric Ventimiglia, Executive Director for Michigan Rising Action. Ventimiglia continued, “Inflation, record high gas prices and Whitmer’s crumbling roads are leaving Michigan families in a deep pothole.”
