Debbie Stabenow Does Not Care About High Gas Prices
Lansing, Mich., June 7, 2022 – In a Senate Committee hearing today, Sen. Debbie Stabenow bragged about driving to D.C. in her new electric vehicle, passing by gas stations with all-time high prices.
Stabenow has been a Senator since 2001, and over the course of 22 years, has been paid $3,705,700 by the taxpayers. This is in addition to her $88,000 per year pension from the State of Michigan.
An electric vehicle is out of the price range for the average Michigander, with the average cost coming to $56,437, while the median household income in Michigan is $59,234.
“No wonder Debbie Stabenow can afford an electric vehicle; she has made millions over 20 years with a Senator’s salary funded by taxpayers,” said Eric Ventimiglia, Executive Director for Michigan Rising Action. Ventimiglia continued, “Stabenow and fellow Democrats are suggesting a $56k electric vehicle purchase will solve the problem of high gas prices for families. Stabenow showed that she truly does not care about the cost of gas for millions of Michiganders.”
