Whitmer’s “Fight Like Hell” Rhetoric Incites Violence

June 23, 2022

Lansing, Mich., June 23, 2022 – Governor Whitmer has promised on her social media that she would “fight like hell” to keep abortion legal in Michigan. After weeks of promoting the “fight,” violent protesters attacked three pregnancy support centers in Michigan.

On Wednesday afternoon, news broke that pro-abortion vandals attacked a pro-life center in Jackson, shared by the campaign headquarters for Congressman Tim Walberg. The attackers smashed windows and spray-painted the words “Jane’s Revenge” on the building’s signage. The terms reference the pro-abortion group Jane’s Revenge, which has called for a “night of rage” if the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade

On June 19th, a pregnancy support center in Dearborn Heights was targeted by vandals who broke windows and doors and spray-painted the threatening message: “If abortion isn’t safe, neither are you,” another calling card of Jane’s Revenge.

Another pregnancy center in Redford was attacked by vandals who also broke windows and spray-painted the words “fake clinic” and “Jane,” again referencing the pro-abortion group.

Gretchen Whitmer has yet to condemn the violent attacks and threats from organized protesters.

“Gretchen Whitmer has promised to ‘fight like hell’, and the pro-abortion crowd followed her lead by attacking pregnancy support centers,” said Eric Ventimiglia, Executive Director for Michigan Rising Action. Ventimiglia continued, “Whitmer has yet to condemn the political violence occurring as a result of her own rhetoric, and needs to be held accountable.”
