Lansing, Mich., March 8, 2023 – As multiple states and the federal government ban the use of TikTok, and debate continues the impact of the app on the minds of our youth, Gretchen Whitmer furthered her embrace of the Chinese Communist Party and their affiliated companies. Earlier today, the State of Michigan exempted Governor Whitmer from a ban of the app on state-owned devices. MLive reports:
“TikTok’s website is now blocked on browsers, he explained. TikTok’s app can still be downloaded, but it can’t be opened.
There are exceptions, however, for law enforcement and cybersecurity purposes, as well for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s popular TikTok account – @BigGretchWhitmer – which has nearly 200,000 followers.”
Whitmer has previously embraced Chinese actors, pursuing hundreds of millions of taxpayer subsidies for the CCP-affiliated battery manufacturer Gotion, and further taxpayer subsidies for a project linked with CCP-affiliated CATL.
“Despite warnings from the FBI regarding security, and the FDA due to its impact on our youth, Gretchen Whitmer continues to fully embrace Chinese technology,” said Eric Ventimiglia, Executive Director for Michigan Rising Action. Ventimiglia continued, “Gretchen Whitmer’s chief concern seems to be her own brand when it should be the interests of our state.”
