Lansing, MI – Last week, the Bureau of Elections confirmed a progressive PAC violated campaign finance laws, using corporate dollars to exceed campaign contribution limits to the tune of nearly $200,000.
Last year Michigan Rising Action filed a complaint with the Bureau of Elections against the Climate Cabinet PAC, alleging hundreds of thousands of dollars were illegally injected into Democrat campaign coffers. Now all eyes are on Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson to see if she’ll hold her allies accountable, or settle for a slap on the wrist.
“On Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s watch, hundreds of thousands of dollars illegally poured into Michigan from coastal elites with zero regard for the law. Not only did Benson miss these illegal contributions, her party conveniently stood to benefit from them,” said Brandon Mills of Michigan Rising Action. “SOS Benson claims to support fairness and doing the right thing, but her record proves otherwise. Will she finally hold her fellow democrats accountable?”
Under Secretary of State Benson, the following are just a few of the violations that have seen little to no action:
“Multiple House Democrat legislators, as well as candidates for lower office, received illegal donations from Climate Cabinet PAC and should be held accountable to the strictest extent of the law,” Mills continued, “Will House Democrats finally realize they can’t break the law and return any illegal contributions from Climate Cabinet PAC?”
