Lansing, Mich., June 10, 2021 – In a press conference today on elder abuse, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said that she would work with the University of Michigan Board of Regents to investigate accusations of sexual abuse within the schools athletic department, except for Republican Regent Ron Weiser, a survivor of Dr. Anderson’s abuse.
Watch:
“Dana Nessel has shamelessly politicized an incredibly serious case of a serial sexual abuser, showing a complete lack of compassion for survivors of such traumatic events,” said Eric Ventimiglia, executive director of Michigan Rising Action. Ventimiglia continued, “Michigan Rising Action is calling on Nessel to immediately apologize for her insensitivity, and to make clear to all survivors that no matter what their political views are, their stories will be heard and justice will be served.”
