MICHIGAN, October 1, 2024 – Reid Hoffman, left-wing tech entrepreneur, Democrat dark money financier and known associate of Jeffrey Epstein, has decided to shape Michigan’s political landscape, spending his billions on Democrats in the 2024 races that will decide the future of Michigan.
Hoffman brings with him not just sacks of cash but a history of controversy that continues to draw scrutiny.
Earlier this year, Hoffman made conspiratorial comments that raised eyebrows of even neutral onlookers, suggesting he wished former President Donald Trump to become “a martyr,” a statement that many interpreted as welcoming the notion of Trump’s assassination. Adding to the controversy, Hoffman’s top political advisor pushed the theory that the July assassination attempt on Trump was “staged.”
Hoffman’s connections to Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted child sex abuser, also resurfaced during the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell. Reports indicate that Hoffman introduced Epstein to influential individuals within his network and visited Epstein’s notorious island, raising questions about judgment and associations.
This hasn’t stopped Michigan Democrats from accepting cash from the California billionaire. In May, Hoffman maxed out donations to three key candidates in Michigan:
“It is disgusting that public officials, including Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, have campaigned on the rights of women while showing little integrity on the issue when it comes to who funds their campaigns. You’d think checks written by a man who counted Jeffrey Epstein as an associate would be a bridge too far,” said Abby Mitch, executive director of Michigan Rising Action. “The right thing to do would have been to reject the cash from a California billionaire and let Michiganders decide their own elections. At the very least, the decent thing to do would be to return the contributions and reject Hoffman’s personal endorsement of their campaigns.”
Hoffman’s political involvement in Michigan is not new. He was a significant supporter of the ‘Republican Voters Against Trump’ campaign, which launched a $500,000 billboard blitz in swing states, including Michigan. The campaign aimed to encourage former Trump voters to support Kamala Harris and featured 76 billboards across Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. He also flooded our lives with a 60-second ad.”
Financial records from the Michigan Secretary of State also show Hoffman’s substantial contributions to Republican Accountability PAC and his role as a major donor to Gretchen Whitmer’s gubernatorial campaign, giving $32,150 directly to her reelection campaign in 2022.
